The VIGOR Study

The VIGOR Study as a whole seeks to determine the appropriate intensity of exercise needed to reduce the risk of hypoglycemia in person living with type 1 diabetes. It is composed of three separate studies: (1) VIGOR Acute Sedentary – is a short term 16 day study for sedentary individuals comparing the effects of three exercise intensities (70%, 80%, and 90% of heart rate reserve) on the prevention of nocturnal hypoglycemia, (2) VIGOR Acute Trained – is a short term 6 day study for endurance trained individuals assessing the impact of two varying intensities (80% and 90% of heart rate reserve) of exercise on the prevention of nocturnal hypoglycemia, and (3) VIGOR Trial – a 16 week randomized controlled trial for sedentary individuals looking at the long term effects of interval training on hypoglycemia.  For more information, please follow the links below which include our Twitter and Facebook page as well as relevant articles.
